Silver Obsidian, often called Silver Sheen Obsidian, is a striking variety of obsidian that displays a luminous silver glow across its surface. At first glance it appears black, but when viewed under light, a metallic silver sheen emerges from within the volcanic glass.

The silver effect is caused by:

• Microscopic gas bubbles trapped during cooling
• Tiny mineral inclusions within the glass
• Internal layers reflecting light

As the stone is rotated, the sheen can appear to move across the surface.

Silver Obsidian often displays:

• Deep black background color
• Silvery metallic reflections
• Smoky silver bands
• Mirror-like polished surfaces

The sheen is especially dramatic in spheres, palm stones, and freeforms.
