Silver Obsidian (often called Silver Sheen Obsidian) is a variety of obsidian, a natural volcanic glass, that displays a beautiful silvery glow when viewed under light. The sheen appears to float beneath the surface, creating a striking reflective effect.

The silvery effect is caused by:

• Tiny gas bubbles trapped during lava cooling
• Microscopic mineral inclusions
• Light reflecting from internal layers within the glass

When rotated under a light source, the sheen can appear to move across the stone.

Silver Obsidian may show:

• Bright silver flashes
• Metallic-looking reflections
• Smoky silver bands
• Mirror-like polished surfaces

The strongest sheen is usually visible when the stone is polished into spheres, palm stones, or cabochons.
