Moss Agate is a beautiful variety of chalcedony known for its green, moss-like inclusions that resemble ferns, trees, forests, or underwater plants. Despite its name, Moss Agate is not a true banded agate because it usually lacks the distinct banding found in traditional agates.

Moss Agate is recognized by:

The green patterns are usually caused by minerals such as chlorite, hornblende, or other manganese and iron-rich inclusions.
