Hemimorphite is a zinc silicate mineral prized for its beautiful sky-blue to turquoise colors and its unusual crystal structure. It can occur as sparkling crystals, botryoidal ("grape-like") formations, or massive material carved into towers and cabochons.

Hemimorphite gets its name from a rare feature called hemimorphism:

• The two ends of its crystals develop differently.
• One end can have a different shape from the other.

Its color can range from pale robin's-egg blue to vibrant turquoise.
